Suspension of the California High School Exit Examination

Senate Bill 172 was signed by Governor Brown on October 7, 2015. This law suspends the administration of the California High School Exit Examination (CAHSEE) and the requirement that students completing grade twelve successfully pass the high school exit examination as a condition of receiving a diploma of graduation from high school for the 2015–16, 2016–17, and 2017–18 school years.

  3. The California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) provides testing results in English and mathematics for 11th graders.
Mathematics Resources for Parents and Guardians

The Common Core Team has provided parents with information and resources that explain Common Core Mathematics mathematics instruction.  Parents are advised to work with their child’s teachers as they are the most familiar with the mathematics program being used at their child’s school. Parents are also provided with information about the transition to newer methods of mathematics instruction and resources that explain the CCSS for mathematics and provide suggestions for parents and guardians for supporting their child’s academic success.

Smarter Balanced Assessments Video

Riverside Unified School District has produced a parent video describing the purposes of Smarter Balanced assessments. This 4:40 minute video is told from a student perspective about the importance of the Smarter Balanced Summative test results and how the tests will help inform and prepare students for their future.

This video is an excellent resource to share with parents, interested community members, school board members and district and school site staff.
