College Park will be offering the PSAT/NMSQT (Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) during the last week in October (week of the 27th). The PSAT/NMSQT is an optional practice exam for the SAT. The exam will be held during the school day and our College & Career Advisor, Mr. Walters, will be assigning students a testing time when we get closer to the exam dates.
The exam costs $25 and is only open to juniors. Registration will open on the College Park webstore on August 6th. Registration will close on August 28th at 11:59PM.
If you have a 504 or IEP plan and are requesting College Board accommodations you must email me at waltersd@mdusd.org to make your request. Your 504 or IEP accommodations are NOT automatic for College Board exams. Upon receiving your official request (Mr. Walters will have a physical form for you to complete - request forms are available in the College & Career Center (Room A-1).
Mr. Walters will make the request to the College Board on student's behalf. Students must make the request by August 28th at 11:59 PM - the College Board has hard cut off dates.

How to Request Final Transcripts
Seniors,
You can request to have your final transcripts sent at this time. When you make the request it will go into a queue - when final transcripts are approved and verified (usually a couple of weeks after school is over) they will be submitted to the college that you requested.
Parchment will send you an email (be sure that you are using your personal email) verifying that the transcript was submitted. Both community colleges and 4-year universities require that you submit a final transcript to the college that you will be attending. On the College Park website type “transcripts” into the Search bar. You will find both directions and the College Park Parchment link. Only access Parchment through the College Park website.

DVC Concurrent EnrollmentConcurrent enrollment is a program that allows high school students to take college-level courses while still enrolled in high school. These courses provide students the opportunity to earn college level credit, get ahead on college requirements, and explore subjects not offered in high school, and sometimes save money since many programs are low-cost or free for high school students. *Students can only recieve high school credit for up to 4 courses that are not already offered at the high school. Example: students cannot take Spanish at DVC and earn high school credit for Spanish since that course is already offered at College Park.
*Use this guide for more details on how to complete any of the steps. |
FAFSA & CA Dream Act
The California Department of Education and the California Student Aid Commission (CSAC) urges all California high school seniors to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the California Dream Act Application (CADAA). Filing financial aid applications is the first step toward college success and helps eligible students qualify for federal, state, and campus-based aid as well as some private scholarships.
